The 2024 Kia Niro is an all-new take on the formula that made the previous model a success since it refined its mechanical elements and wrapped in a totally new appearance. Here are some of the most important changes.
The new design
The 2024 Kia Niro is much more expressive than the previous model due to its exterior design that uses unconventional elements that have never been seen before on a Kia vehicle, such as the long and slim taillamps that follow the outside of the rear window from the roof down to about the middle of the liftgate, or the headlamps that feature a unique shape which is highlighted by the LED daytime running light strip. Probably the most distinctive feature of the new Niro however is the available contrasting colour on the Aeroblade which runs down from the roof to the wheel arch on each rear quarter panel.
Efficiency improvements
The 2024 Kia Niro uses the same mechanical elements as before, but they have been improved to provide an even higher level of efficiency. The standard Niro Hybrid continues to use a 1.6L engine and an electric motor which delivers 139 horsepower and a fuel consumption figure as low as 4.4 L/100 km in the city. Choosing the plug-in hybrid model increases the horsepower to 180 and allows a 53-kilometre electric range, which is 25% more than the previous version. The fully electric model also benefitted from efficiency improvements since its 64.8 kWh battery and 201 horsepower electric motor now allow it to drive 407 kilometres on a charge.
New technologies
The 2024 Kia Niro also benefits from a number of new or improved technologies that make living with it easier for everyone. For example, the new Niro offers a dual-screen dashboard that places all of the important information and controls close to the driver and gives a futuristic look inspired by the EV6. Also inspired by the EV6 is the new Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability which allows the Niro EV to power electrical equipment or even other EVs directly from its charging port.
